This speciality causes her to never forgets anything she has seen or heard. ^^ She lives in a middle-class apartment with her elder sister (which puzzles me: have their parents died or something?). The 14 year old girl minded that at first, but then she gives in and accepts her new nickname. Since Kyu calls her Meg (or “Megu”), everybody else dubs her so. Ryu’s family was by some means responsible for the detective’s death. For some reasons Kyu’s mother would not reveal the identity of the detective, that was why Kyu did not know. It turns out that Kyu’s father was none other than the detective who saved Kyu from the kidnappers. Dan’s past and Ryu’s background with Kyu’s family. He gets familiar with people easily, and is naturally keen to shake hands with the clients of DDS ^^. He never estranged Ryu for his mysterious drawback, nor Kinta and Meg when they believed themselves stupid ^^, nor Kazuma when the kid felt so left out. With his often-childlike thinking pattern, Kyu is able to see things differently from others. Helpful, quick to respond (especially in case-solving), ingenuous minded, are Kyu’s traits. But he overcame the underestimation and passed the exams, even obtaining an exceptional review from Det. As a Junior High student Kyu’s marks were substandard, and many of his classmates doubted he will pass the entrance exams of DDS.

As a child he was kidnapped by a group of people, but later rescued by a private detective, to whom little Kyu always refers to with full regard ( “a detective I respect”, he says). ^^ Ī teenager of 14, Kyu is a senior student at a junior high school who dreams of becoming the world’s greatest private detective. Aside from the class, there are other classes: A, B, C and D, with the A Class as the toughest rival of the Q Class. Dan’s position, primarily as the chief special investigator of The National Police Department. The above mentioned Q Class was formed in the purpose of finding a successor for Det. The tankoubon has reached volume #18 (in stores-in Japan-on December, 17th, 2004).ĭeciding on the detective/mystery genre, the story revolves around the lives of several students and staffs of the DDS (Dan Detective School), a school founded by the legendary detective Dan Morihiko. The anime lasted for 45 episodes, ended sooner than the manga.

The widely known versions of the series are the tankoubon (collected episodes of the manga in volumes form) and the anime (animated TV program), broadcasted by the TBS. Started from 2001, it has been published weekly in a Japanese magazine called “Weekly Shonen Magazine” and is still continuing until now. TGQ is a manga written by the duet Amagi Seimaru (who writes the plot) and Satou Fumiya (who does the illustrations). Second, it indicates the main character of the story: Kyu (pronounced “Q”), a boy who is a student of the Q Class.
First, it signifies an elite class within the school, the Q Class, in which “Q” stands for “Qualified”. Tantei Gakuen Q is Japanese for “Detective School (Academy) Q”.
